Yesterday I went to Anderson falls with some friends for a class. Here is showing some of those gorgeous fall colors!
Fall. It's my favorite time of the year. The weather turns cooler, but it's still warm enough to spend time outside. The leaves change colors to make really pretty scenery.. and driving to Columbus everyday is a drive in the direction of the best fall colors in the state, so it's wonderful :) Also, it's jeans and sweatshirt weather... which I love! Of course, this year, Indiana has decided to be crazy and have almost 90 degree weather in October.. not that it's really bothering me any. My only hope? That this doesn't make a really bad winter. I do not like snow.. well, rephrase that... if there is a little snow i'm fine. just not enough to make the roads bad.. which means ice. :/ Let's just hope we really don't have much of a winter this year, shall we?

You may recognize Kylie and Kamdenn. I took pictures of them back in March. Kylie and I have been best friends since around first grade. We met in our religion class and realized we were both going to the same school. Out of the next five years in elementary school, we were in the same class five times. Having a best friend means so much... it means note passing, secrets, playing at recess, clubs, and crushes on boys. The things we look back now and laugh about might have broken our heart back then. All we needed was a best friend by our side.
Kylie now has an adorable son, Kamdenn. When I was given a new assignment for class, my first instinct was ask Kylie and Kamdenn to be the models. We had such a great time in the studio. It's October. I've majorly slacked on this blog. No excuse for that... No more of that. School is well underway. I'm now twenty. The weather is getting colder. It is dark in the mornings, AND especially at night. 2010 is slowly coming to an end. My shooting lately has been a variety of things. A wedding... a farm shoot... school assignments... times at school... self portraits... face it, I'm always taking photographs. Now, to just make this a career. *Dream.* Here's Paul and Lacey. A great couple who got married on September 18. I shot alongside Darla Woodhull for a great, fun filled day! I got an email asking if I could take pictures of a farm and the harvest which was taking place. I loved this assignment. Check out this awesome combine shot. One school assignment I had was to take "high key portraits". Here is my favorite photo of my friend Corri! Another assignment I had to do was "rim lighting". Here's a photo I love of my friend Brittanie. I took official shots of my nieces a few days ago... beautiful girls. Sometimes in my classes we take field trips. Here is an action shot of Jake jumping off the landing at Mill Race Park! This self portrait was for a class assignment, AND my 365. Love the dramatic lighting :) This semester has been the hardest yet... can't believe one year from now I'll be done with school. Hopefully the future holds very good things!
Where does the time go? It will be September in a few days. With September comes my favorite season, fall. Also, my birthday comes along. This will be a special birthday for me this year. I'm turning 20 :) So this past week was my first week of the fall semester. A long week, but I have such high goals for this whole school year. I am going to push myself as hard as I can, to get the best results. It's all about this year. My second year in school. And last. Here are some shots as of lately. Also, when I could this week, I watched Jasmine Star on creativeLIVE. Tonight, my shooting plans is to head out to a cemetary and try and capture the "emotion". School assignment. I have a few different ideas in mind, and I'm not quitting until I get that perfect photograph! Because, there is no sense to settle for less than perfect.
This past Saturday was my first opportunity to work with Darla Woodhull this year. Darla is the person who helped me start out in photography, with my first second shooting opportunity back in 2007. Here it is, almost three years later, and we still work together when we are able. I love every chance to work with her. Saturday, Eric and Ashley got married. The day started out at Concepts for the hair appointments, continued to New Point Christian Church, and the reception was at A2Z Occasions. It was a great, successful day all around. Congratulations to Eric and Ashley! My next time working with Darla will be next month! Can't wait :)
Yesterday I got to spend time with Meagan :) We went to Shelbyville, and found this awesome old blue garage door. I'll definitely have to remember this spot. It photographs awesome!
The glasses? Goodwill :) It is 4:21, and my next class doesn't start until 6:00. I've been spending the last few hours staring at a website for class trying to figure out what to add to it. Some days I am all about being productive, and then there are others that I just want to relax. Probably doesn't help that I spent so much of my weekend on the computer working on my photoshop project. THAT class starts at 6:00. So, this Saturday I took my pictures out to the fair to enter into the open class contest for the second year in a row. Last year I entered three shots and one got first place in it's category! This year, I placed two times out of the six pictures entered. I received a second place in the black and white "other" category, and a third in the color "scenery". I would have liked to receive more, but it just pushes me to go harder and stronger! Everything makes me want to be the best I can be. here is second place: and third: Yep, that is my photo of Vegas that placed twice in the student show! Three time winner :)
What is really exciting is what is happening next week. My friend Wittney is driving through Indiana to go to Louisville, and I get to spend some time with her! I met Wittney out in Vegas at WPPI, and we have become really good friends. Fun photo shoots with her ahead! On Thursday, I headed over to Columbus and met Carolyn. Carolyn and her two daughters, Cayley and Cara, were here visiting from Arizona! The purpose of the shoot? To get some pictures with her parents, and get some pictures taken of her daughters for her husband's birthday present! The rain tried to mess up being outdoors, but we made it work :)
When it comes to being a perfectionist, I am normally at the top of the charts. My attitude is, why not make something PERFECT?? So today, I spent hours, and I mean long hours, working on the current project for my photoshop class. I've never really been a fan of photoshop... but you do what you have to do to get a degree. And, sure, it's not going to be bad to know most things.. maybe someday I'll get in a really creative photoshoppy (ha) mood. You never know!
Anyways.. I spent hours today working on one photo... chopping out a background around strands of hair. Around five or so hours later my eyes couldn't focus anymore, so I stopped. I'm still not done with that particular photo yet, but I did accomplish alot. Productivity! So to finish this off, I will end with a sneak peak from yesterday's family session :) Today started out non surprising. I knew when I woke up that I was going with my mom to babysit my two adorable nieces. I began my daily routine, which starts out with looking at certain things on the internet before I even get out of bed! Oh the joys of having a macbook pro :) In my email this morning was a message from Stephanie Bishop. I had taken detail pictures at a reception for her a couple weeks ago. She told me that she had been editing the images and that many will be placed in the online gallery for the couple to view. She also added another thing... that i have a beautiful eye! Coming from another photographer, that type of compliment means alot :) I posted this statement as my facebook status. The first comment I received was from Candace. I had taken pictures at a block party that Candace threw back in the fall. She told me that she still enjoys looking at her pictures from that night. From here, I go babysit and return. When I get back on facebook, here is a message from Candace asking me if I could take pictures for a neighbor. While I was writing her back, she calls me, and we set it up from there. So here in a few minutes I will be leaving to go to a family session. I'm really excited. The family in question is from Arizona, they are visiting their mother who lives here in Columbus. Off I go to take some hopefully wonderful, meaningful pictures!! :) and because you can't have a blog post without pictures... this is a picture of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas that I will be entering into our fair on Saturday!!
